Educational Qualification
Applicants should possess a Full-Time Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) with minimum 65% marks (aggregate of all semesters) in any of the above seven disciplines — Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Metallurgy — from a recognized university or institute.
Age Criteria (as on 05.12.2025)
- Upper Age Limit: 28 years (Born on or after 05.12.1997)
- Departmental Candidates: Up to 45 years
- Age Relaxation: As per Government of India norms for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD categories.
SAIL MT Salary 2025
Selected candidates will receive an attractive pay package under the E1 grade structure:
- During Training: ₹50,000 per month (Basic Pay) in the pay scale of ₹50,000–₹1,60,000.
- After Training (as Assistant Manager): ₹60,000–₹1,80,000 with additional benefits.
- Other benefits include Dearness Allowance, PF, Gratuity, HRA, Leave Encashment, and Medical Facilities for self and dependents.
- The approximate annual CTC is ₹16–17 Lakhs at the minimum of E1 grade (excluding PRP and location-based allowances).

Selection Procedure
The SAIL MT selection process involves three stages:
- Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Tentative Exam Date: January–February 2026
- Exam Centers: Major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, etc.
- Exam Pattern:
- Part I – Domain Knowledge Test: 100 marks (40 minutes)
- Part II – Aptitude Test: 100 marks (80 minutes) covering English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning & General Awareness (25 marks each).
- Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS – 50 percentile in each section
- SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD – 40 percentile in each section
- Group Discussion (GD)
- Personal Interview (PI)
Weightage for final selection:
- CBT: 75%
- GD: 10%
- Interview: 15%
In case of a tie, preference will be given to higher CBT marks, followed by higher engineering degree marks.
